Hike to the summit of Arabia Mountain, a low monadnock of sun-soaked granite just a few miles outside the Atlanta perimeter. Peaking just above the surrounding tree line, you'll get views in all directions, though not extensive ones. This is a great quick trail that's good for kids and dogs.
Park at the South Parking Lot or if full you'll have to park at the Nature Center Lot and walk an additional mile round trip down the PATH Klondike boardwalk. The trail begins at the end of the parking lot before the AWARE Wildlife Center.
Follow the rock cairns, paved rock mounds that serve as trail markers along the way. Other than these, there really isn't a trail as most of the way you're hiking along exposed granite. The cairns lead to the base of the summit where the blue blazed Mountain View Trail splits off to the right, but for this hike stay left.
The hike gets significantly steeper on the way up and the rock cairns end shortly before reaching the summit. If you continue to walk to what looks like the high point, you'll find a geodetic survey marker in the rock. Otherwise, explore around if you want, this is where this hike ends. When you're ready to head back, just look for the cairns to lead you back down the mountain.
