Does a fifth of a mile count as a hike? Whether you think so or not, check out this very short walk to Issaqueena Falls, one of South Carolina's best waterfalls.
Starting from the gravel parking lot, cross the bridge then hang a right under the covered bridge. As you walk down to the trail you'll get a nice view toward the west. From the observation deck at just under a tenth of a mile from the parking lot, you get a good view of the falls, albeit through a few trees.
If you want a view from the base of the falls, head down the steep trail to the right of the observation deck. The elevation graph below doesn't do this section justice. Dropping 100 feet in just 220 feet of distance, you'll be jumping down more than you'll be hiking down. Watch for slick wet rocks.
The treacherous trek downhill is worth it. The view from the base of the 100 foot cascades of Issaqueena Falls gives you an unbroken look at this impressive waterfall. Hiking back up won't be nearly as hard as the climb down.
