Becky Branch Falls

Take a short hike to Becky Branch Falls along the much longer Bartram Trail in north Georgia. This easy to access waterfall makes a nice short hike that's good for kids and pets. Another waterfall in the Warwoman Dell Recreation Area makes for a great add on hike.

Park at either parking lot. The trails to the falls will be along the gravel road between the two parking lots. This page describes starting from the second larger lot.

Head down the gravel road until you reach the turn off of the Bartram Trail behind an information sign. In front of the sign is another trail. Both trails head toward Warwoman Road and cross the road, but staying on the yellow-blazed Bartram trail is definitely the easier trail to follow.

Cross the road and continue up the Bartram Trail for just another tenth of a mile before arriving at Becky Branch Falls. From a wooden bridge you have a great view of this nice smaller waterfall cascading down the rock for about 20 feet. Continue past the waterfall, immediately taking the Becky Branch Falls Trail on the right to head back down to the road. If you want a longer hike with a larger falls, continue on the Bartram Trail to Martin Creek Falls or go even further to Pinnacle Knob.

Back at the road, I recommend turning right to walk along the road back to the Bartram Trail crossing you came in on to finish out this loop. The other trail that comes out at the sign along the gravel road is difficult to spot but is further down the road slightly around the corner.

The Bartram Trail leaves the Warwoman Dell Recreation Area midway between the two parking areas, so either is fine. This page begins at the larger second parking lot.
Parking Capacity
5-8 cars at the first lot, 10-15 at the second with parking along the road between the two available.
Notes
Use caution when crossing the road. Listen for cars coming around the corner.

Nov 17, 2024 - Took Bartram Trail side from Warwoman Dell. Had our dogs with us, they did fine though the narrow spots on the upper part of the trail closer to the waterfall were a little hard as there's a steep drop-off at parts and our younger dog was making me nervous as there was not room for her to smell and walk just off trail like normal. The reward is high though with a beautiful falls in such a short hike. Unfortunately the bridge is washed out - not sure how long its been, but we could see some of the debris piled at the bottom of the pooling area and the rest was likely down the drop off to the creek. We did not attempt to cross the wet rocks in the pool (especially with the dogs) to the other trail, so we just went back down Bartram Trail again. Still worth the view, but if you wanted to continue on to Martin's Creek Falls you'd want to take the Becky Branch Falls Trail up instead or be ready to cross through the pooling area carefully. Though there is less of an area to sit and view the Becky Branch Falls from on the Becky Branch Falls Trail side than the larger open rocks side of Bartram Trail. Still worth the hike for the view, but you are limited without the bridge there how much can see and crossing. Obviously there needed to be a more securely built bridge to better withstand washout!

Nice Easy Waterfall
Nothing too spectacular here, especially compared to the longer hikes along this trail, but Becky Branch Falls is a really nice easy waterfall to get to. And just a few miles from Clayton, it's not in the middle of nowhere.
