Snooper's Rock overlook provides expansive views of the Tennessee River Gorge and this less than a mile round-trip hike is the quickest route to enjoying it's beauty. And with this hike just outside of Chattanooga, it can be a little crowded on nice summer weekends.
From the parking off of Tower Drive, the trailhead is next to the info sign on the south side. You can also walk down the road next to the parking lot on the opposite side. Make a left, following the sign just after the trailhead. Stay to the left as you pass a couple trails connecting to the Pot Point Loop heading toward Natural Bridge.
The trail navigates to the right of the small OHV parking lot then just after you'll stay to the right at the intersection with the Mullens Cove Loop. At this point you should be able to see the opening for Snooper's Rock just ahead. Step out from under the trees to enjoy 180° views from a sunny rock outcropping. The Tennessee River passes by at a slow pace from this height. Once you've taken it all in, head back the way you came.
