The middle of the three marked loops at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, the yellow-blazed Noses Creek Loop allow you to get away from the hustle and bustle of the main Visitor Center area and enjoy an easy relaxing loop. While this hike won't be very scenic, it's easy and flat, making a great option for runners. Dogs will also enjoy bringing their humans here.
There's only one parking option for this loop, the Pigeon Hill parking lot along Burnt Hickory Road. A large lot, but it will fill up almost immediately on weekends. Some park here and cross the road to head up to Kennesaw Mountain. For this loop, however, begin the trail at the end of the lot staying to the right along the open field.
At a third of a mile, the trail splits to form the loop. For the mile markers and directional posts, follow this loop counter-clockwise so bear right at the split. This section is the Hardage Mill Trail. There are many smaller side trails but it's always easy to tell which is the main trail.
The trail follows closely along Noses Creek briefly before connecting to the Noses Creek Trail at the bridge. You'll be returning by this trail but the two intersect at the bridge. Turn right, cross the bridge, then immediately turn right to leave the wider path and hike along the other side of the creek. You'll notice a couple place you could rock hop across the creek if you were so inclined.
The Hardage Mill Trail ends at a gate in front of Dallas Hwy/Whitlock Avenue. Staying straight through the split rail fence will take you to the crosswalk, but this loop turns around here, turning left now on the Noses Creek Trail. You'll cross back over the bridge and continue back to the original split to finish out the loop.
