Medlock Bridge Unit trail system is one of the smaller Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area parks, but it still packs good views of the river and several steep climbs for up to 2 miles of hiking. With a large parking lot, several picnic areas and a boat ramp, this is a good park for locals, but I wouldn't drive too far to get here.
The section of trail between the parking lot and the river has numerous side trails to connect with both. North of the parking lot, the trail ends quickly with a good view of the highway crossing over the Chattahoochee. The trail does look like it continues along the highway back to the entrance, but this is unofficial trail that fizzles out among several fallen trees.
The majority of this short trail system is south of the parking lot, so turn around and head back the way you came. Continue along the river before coming to the first intersection, all of which are well marked with maps indicating which junction you are currently at. From here on you can choose any path you like.
The trail along the river is just over .6 miles so keeping to this you can do 1.2 miles without much difficulty. At the other end of the park, the trail ends just past a no trespassing sign. The official trail map shows the trail forking in two directions, but both don't go far and the close proximity to houses makes you feel like you are walking in people's backyards. Adding all the other trails can take you to over 2 miles depending on your route, so there are a few options none of which are incredibly long or difficult.
