Take a relaxing walk around this 3-mile loop to enjoy lake views, quite creeks and a suspension bridge. While no longer dog friendly, this still makes great hike for young kids or anyone looking to enjoy an easy hike for a couple of hours.
Begin the hike at the Lake Parking Lot. No restrooms are available so make a pit stop along the way. The trail begins at either the far right corner of the lot or just inside the gate to the left of the entrance heading behind the buildings. Both are marked with a trail marker and a map. The paved path and trail behind the pavilion both go down to the lake.
You can hike this loop in either direction. All intersections are well marked with blazed trail markers and maps. Follow the markers for the Lake Loop blazed orange. If you head out to the left of the entrance, the trail immediately grants you a great view of the lake. Most of this loop follows small creeks, making for a very tranquil experience.
The Lake Loop and the Bridge Loop connect for .4 miles. Along this section is the suspension bridge over the larger creek. Combine the Bridge and Lake Loops for a longer 5-mile hike. Other than the section along the lake, the entire trail in under dense tree cover, making a good option in the summer heat. Small side trails also let you explore the creeks a little more closely.
