Enjoy a quiet walk around a secluded mountain lake in Black Rock Mountain State Park in the northeast corner of Georgia. Sometimes you want to conquer the world and sometimes you just want to relax and unwind. This hike is the later.
Parking is along the gravel Taylor Chapel Road. If coming from Black Rock Mountain Road, go slow and watch for a few deep potholes, but otherwise fine for sedans. The trail is blazed blue and easy to follow. Other than a short side trail to the lake shore, the only intersection is with the white-blazed connector trail that leads to the James E. Edmonds loop. If you want to extend the hike to add a view, consider taking this trail to Lookoff Mountain.
With a variety of trails at Black Rock Mountain State Park, this is the easiest hike in the park. That's not to say it isn't worthwhile. This beautiful lake is framed by the tips of the surrounding mountains giving you the feeling that you're walking around your own private lake.
